Look - up in the sky!

If you didn't notice after work today - Venus and Jupiter were -right- by the moon, looking -very- bright. I'm just noticing it posted on Wired and in the nightly newscast too. Purrrrrty.

Melatonin vs Red Bull - FIGHT!

Thanks again to [info]mackys for inviting me to a fantastic Thanksgiving meal up in the mountains of Lyons at Rancho Lobo y Mariposa.

Epic FORTH guy

Once again, a November 15th "Forth Day" has gone by and I wasn't able to fly out to Silicon Valley to attend. But, I'm not the only nerd freak.

Two reviews:

Still hoping to see one of the past 3 years 'Fireside Chat' lectures posted on video.

“In the Interesting Events Department. Denver's Radio Stations at 106.7, 93.3 and 103.5 have all fallen silent at the same time but it does seem that several other Denver area radio stations are still on the air. So perhaps clear channel just tripped over a cable in the knock or something.”

(via Rob R.) Cute CollegeHumor vid, not sure how old :-)

Nitpick: That's a Win95/98 bluescreen guyz, at least get an XP 'STOP' screen image :) Jeez, XP came out in 2001, you're as behind the times as Trent!

([info]jwz voice): I think that all of you (you with the jerking knees) who piped up to say "but that's not an XP bluescreen!!" should take a moment to realize that you just did the equivalent of complaining that I got Data's Starfleet rank wrong.
(Yes, this was an appropriate video to watch while I was WUBI installing Intrepid Ibex in the background ... from an .iso mounted with virtual CDROM cpanel natch :)

Voted this morning, no line to speak of at the polling place.

Moving the same month as the election creates additional bureaucracy.

Regarding the election, I still feel exactly the way I did four years ago. Anyone who cares can go see what I said then.

Statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception.

Yuck.

If you're in the frozen dinner aisle, do *not* pick up Weight Watchers' "Smart Ones". I thought I'd tough 'em out because they're still $2/ea when Lean Cuisine climbed to $2.75/ea, but now I know why. Foulest tasting "marinara" sauce on the ravioli I've tried.

I'm even sick so I'm not supposed to be able to taste anything.

Ptooey.

“I really can't make a story like this up. I am trying to find some red headlight repair tape to replace or rather to temporarily cover a tail light that got dinged; and Target does not carry any red lens repair tape, and the two Lafayette auto parts stores are both completely out of it. So for now the "red" is being served up by some packing tape and a red receipt coupon -- and hopefully if I get pulled over for defective equipment between now and the car's return the officer will take my sad story under consideration -- 'cause I really did try.”
